Mandy Heimann has seen a definite shift over the past decade. "People have moved away from over-opulence and are far more in touch with nature - no doubt in response to the global financial crisis and environmental concerns," she observes.

The seasoned home interiors pro who established Sydney's Orson & Blake with her high-profile son David 20 years ago, has also noticed other trends. "The industrial look is huge overseas and that's filtering through, though we've always been more classical," she says.

Eclecticism is Orson & Blake's key hallmark. Each season is marked by beautifully crafted pieces handpicked from across the globe and the latest range, to be presented at Decoration +Design, is no exception.

Among OB Collection's prime offerings will be the elegant Pedestal furniture range in New Zealand radiata pine; tables, benches and console in mango wood; cotton and linen sofas - "all very modern and tailored" - chic glassware and ceramics, and some powerful temptations for males.

"We'll be showing cowhide wing-back chairs in black, tan and chocolate, along with ottomans in patchwork cowhide," says Mandy.
