New trend proves popular for VIVID Emerging furniture designers embrace ‘up-cycling'
Australia's next generation of furniture designers have without doubt embraced sustainable design, with the finalists for VIVID 2010 leading the pack. Featuring over 90 pieces from 46 designers, the VIVID (Vibrant Visions in Design) competition will return as a hotly anticipated feature of Furnitex, which will be held form 15-18 July 2010 at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre. DECORATION + DESIGN Melbourne and the co-located Furnitex, Australasia's largest furniture and furnishings Trade Fair, will return to the Melbourne Exhibition Centre from 15 - 18 July 2010.
Featuring over 500 exhibitors, FURNITEX & DECORATION + DESIGN Melbourne is the event for the Australian furniture and furnishings industry and is expected to attract over 16,000 local and international visitors. 2010 sees the largest showcase of Australian manufacturers in the world, with previous leading exhibitors H&H Collection, Globe West, RMIT School of Design and Ruby Star Traders returning to exhibit alongside our newest design talent. The Australian International Furniture Fair co-located with interiors fair, Decoration + Design Sydney, enjoyed strong attendance of 6,500 buyers from Australia and overseas all keen to view the future trends and to buy stock from some of Australia's top manufacturers and wholesalers. The three day trade event was held 3-5 February at the Sydney Exhibition Centre, Darling Harbour and is the first furniture Trade Fair on the 2010 Asia Pacific calendar.
Marie Kinsella, Managing Director, Australian Exhibitions & Conferences Pty Ltd said "It was encouraging to see our largest showcase ever of Australian manufactures at AIFF 2010 and highlights the quality and creativity of the local market. Visitor registrations were impressive again this year with many strong sales opportunities being shaped between exhibitors and buyers over the three days. As always the innovation of The Edge and the inspiration of the Seminar Speakers proved popular for attendees.
